             LAW II.

King Charles I and Prince Philippe, ord.
from the Council. Corunna, 1554 chap. 14

Rules to be followed by the Council
on licences to print new
books.

We order that henceforth
licences granted to print new books,
of whatever quality, to be issued by the
President and the members of our Council,
and not elsewhere. We order the Council
to carefully study them before the grant; because
we have been informed that [these licences]
have been easily granted and useless and profitless
books and books containing impertinent
things have been printed. And therefore,
we order that in the case of important works,
the original manuscript shall be retained
so nothing can be added or amended
in the printed sheets.

             LEY II.

sion(Ley 48. Tit. 4. libro 2. R)
