publishes any writings aimed at destroying the doctrine of the existence of God and the immortality of the human soul, and whoever, in printed writings, defames or insults the doctrine of the Christian religion, which, according to the Constitution of the King’s Realms and the laws of the country, is to be protected and honoured, shall be punished with banishment for 3 to 10 years. And as the King desires that every other religious community found in his kingdoms shall also enjoy honour in their worship of God, it is decreed that if anyone attempts to offend such communities by making a mockery of their creed or religion, the guilty party, if charged, shall be punished with imprisonment on bread and water from 4 to 14 days.
6.) Whoever, in printed writings, spreads false reports about an important part of the State, or about the decisions and measures of the Government, shall be sentenced to work in the House of Correction from 2 months to 2 years, in proportion to the damage or inconvenience which the spread false information could have had, or, according to its nature, has caused.
7.) The King does not wish that honest and enlightened men should be prevented from publicly expressing, with boldness and decency, their thoughts on what, in their opinion, may contribute to the promotion of the common good; nor shall anyone be forbidden to express his opinion on what, in his opinion, may be improved or corrected in the laws, ordinances, and public regulations of the country; but it is self-evident that the author should express himself with modesty, and not disregard the honour which he, as a citizen and subject, owes to the government and the legislature. 6.) Dersom nogen, i trykte Skrifter udbreder løgnagtige Beretninger om nogen vigtig Deel af Statens Tilstand, eller om Regieringens Beslutninger og foranstaltninger, skal han dømmens til at arbeide i Forbedringshuset, fra 2 Maaneder til 2 Aar, i Forhold af den Skade eller Uleilighed, som den udspredte løgnagtige Efterretning kunde have tilsigtet, eller, efter dens Beskaffenhed, have forvoldet.
7.) Da Kongen aldeles ikke vil, at redelige og oplyste Mænd skulle hindres fra, med Frimodighed og Anstændighed offentligen at tilkiendegive deres Tanker, om hvad der, efter deres Indsigt, kunde bidrage til at fremme det almindelige Beste; saa skal det eiheller være nogen forbudet, at yttre sin Mening, angaanede hvad han troer, der kunde være at forbedre eller rette i Landets Love, Anordninger og offentlige Indretninger; dog følger det af sig selv, at Forfatteren bør udtrykke sig med Beskedenhed, og ei tilsidesætte den Ærbødighed, han, som Borger og Undersaat, er Regieringen og Lovgiveren Skyldig.
